o Your invitations set the tone. Look for an invitation with a jungle theme. You can find great deals on-line if you can spend the money for a custom invitation or make them yourself. Wal-Mart has party invitations at a great price.

o Use Jungle Themed table cloths, plates, and cups. Depending on the number of table cloths needed, you can use a solid color to compliment the themed table covering. You can find these at any Party Store or your local Dollar Store.

o Decide on a menu. We came up with creative names for the food and drinks, the kids loved it. For example, we had Bug Punch. Purchase small bugs from your local Dollar Store. Place them in ice trays, cover with fruit punch and freeze them. Place them in the punch along with Pop Rocks. Mac and Cheese was Quick Sand, hamburgers were Jungle Burgers, and hot dogs were Slim Dogs, Spaghetti Salad was Snake Salad etc.

o We used jungle animals that we found at the local Good Will Store for table center pieces. After the party, we gave them away to the children and guests.

o Oriental Trading has a great selection of games and party favors at a great price. We also gave each child a box of Animal Crackers along with the Party Bag.

o A Jungle Themed cake is a must. We used Jungle Themed cupcakes. I had the bakery make the icing to look like grass. We used Jungle Themed picks in the center. The children loved them.

o Download Jungle Sounds and play them at the entrance of the party.

o We made signs and placed them in the yard. Here are a few examples: Zoo Parking, Party Animals Ahead, Enter At Your Risk, and Please Don't Feed the Animals.

o Don't forget the Jungle Themed balloons. You can use solid color balloons to compliment the Jungle Themed balloons.

o Ask a local appliance store to save a refrigerator box. Paint jungle animals on the side of the box and cut a few holes in the side to let in sunlight. Cover the box with branches and twigs. Allow the children to crawl through the Jungle Cave. (You can place the downloaded jungle sounds on top of the box for an added effect).

o Be sure to have a few games for adults as well as the children. We played Jungle Bingo. You can find blank bingo outlines on-line. We used pennies as markers for the card. We had the adults match the Jungle Animal and the names of their babies. For example, Elephant and calf, Lion and cub. Also if you know the name of the baby, have the guest make as many words as they can in 10 minutes from the baby's first and last name.

o Recruit 2 - 3 assistants to help with food, games, prizes etc. Mingle and have fun.

Features and Limitations of Retractable Baby Safety Gates

Baby gates are one of the basic and most important baby safety products required for your babies. They are used to restrict unmonitored access to places like kitchen, fireplace, staircase etc. While hardware mounted and pressure mounted baby gates are the conventional options, retractable baby gates are amongst the novel alternatives available.

All safety gates use a pair of brackets to attach with a door frame, newel post of stairs, wall adjoining fire place etc. Pressure mounted gates are so modeled that when the gate in middle of frame is opened, edges of frame stay at their place. In case of retractable safety gates, polyester mesh screen is used in place of wooden or metal pales. They are closed by unwinding this polyester stretch from roller. Other precaution to be taken is particularly in case of rollers with manual spooling. The mesh or gate can be left open accidentally and giving the baby access to restricted place. For this reason auto spooling rollers are preferred so that screen is entirely open or entirely closed.

Starting a Playgroup on a Budget

You've decided to start a playgroup but you don't want to spend a lot of money. No problem. First, start planning your playgroup by deciding the location and frequency of get togethers, age-range of children and if you will need to charge membership dues. You will also need to consider what type of activities, games and crafts the group will be doing.

Once you've figured all this out, it's time to spread the word about your playgroup. Invite everyone you know with the proper age-range children. Sometimes your local community newspaper will let you advertise for free as well as church bulletins. Ask friends and family members to tell everyone they know about the playgroup.

If you don't mind investing a little money, design a flyer on your computer and print out about 50 copies. Print the flyers on bright colored paper and add fun clip art to make them really stand out. This way if they have a small house they can plan meeting somewhere bigger or if they are on a very tight budget, they can still participate by planning inexpensive activities without being embarrassed.

Be sure to know exactly what you want to accomplish with your playgroup and don't let money stand in your way. The free or nearly free resources are endless if you are willing to do your research and put in a little work.

It sounds easy enough. Hang and tag your items for a consignment sale and watch the big fat checks roll in, right? The stories about big fat checks can be legendary, but there is more to it than just hanging and tagging your "stuff" if you want to make serious money by selling at seasonal consignment sales.

First you have to know what sells. Sounds easy enough. I'm selling at a kids consignment sale, so anything for kids should sell right? Not necessarily. You see, there are some things that don't sell well, so it's not worth your trouble to prepare them for the sale. What doesn't sell well? Bedding and room décor to name a few... and then there are all those clothes? What sizes? What brands? What styles? You need to know what sells and what doesn't so you aren't wasting your time or money investing in items that may not resell.

It's not uncommon for new consignors to price their stuff so low that they may get a 0 check, but they also sold 300 items. So how do you navigate the delicate balance of what sells and what is a good selling price? Research, research, research! The best way to research is by volunteering. By working the check-in at a seasonal consignment sale, you have lots of opportunity to see how people price their merchandise, and what they are bringing. Homemade baby bedding saves a lot of budget. You can knit, crochet, sew, or quilt any items to make a bedding set for babies with coordinated yarns, colors and fabrics. However, for those with time-based constraints, below are few suggestions:

Fetch fleece yards from fabric store, cut to the desired dimensions and sew edges to prevent fraying or unraveling.

Now fetch a baby blanket and spice it up by including an attractive border. Or you can include a special touch by using a simple design or embroidering a baby's name.

Make a memorable quilt by utilizing some of the outgrown old clothes. Now cut squares of various sizes. Serge or sew the edges together, pressing them to arrange a flat layer with a thin backing and batting piece.

Ideas for Crib Sheets

Cut cottons or knits to the desired dimensions. Now serge edges to prevent fraying or unraveling. You can use this for top and fitted sheet. Now tuck under loose ends, fastening edges under mattress.

A bed sheet or towel makes for a simple project. Cut to size, just fold in half, and serge or sew edges with the rear sides out. Now, turn the other side out and slip stitch the remaining edge after stuffing with a pillow form.

Don't forget to address infant safety while crafting your own ideas.
